New country club in Ashdod

Ashdod’s city council has decided to launch the planning of a new country club in Ashdod, this time in the north of Ashdod, likely near the Park Lachish neighborhood. This move in Ashdod responds to very strong demand for sports and leisure facilities: the existing country club in Ashdod (in District 13) has more than 8,000 members and a long waiting list, highlighting the lack of similar amenities in Ashdod.

Officials in Ashdod hope to speed up procedures, after the previous project took 23 years. Shimon Katznelson, who is overseeing the file in Ashdod, says this new facility will strengthen the leisure and sports offering in Ashdod, benefiting residents of northern Ashdod and fast-growing areas.

However, in Ashdod, people recall that several leisure projects were approved in the past without being carried out, such as a water park planned near Nahal Lachish. For Ashdod, the challenge is therefore to turn this planning decision into a concrete project, despite the remaining steps (final approvals, budgeting, and construction).
